Hi, we are the mother-daughter team of And I Know You Too, a purpose-driven company rooted in our love of art and humanity. Our mission is to offer employment to formerly-incarcerated women. We believe that everyone deserves a second chance, with an opportunity to overcome obstacles and work toward a better, more secure future.
We believe deeply in supporting those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system and want to better themselves. It is important to us to do something positive through the lens of restorative justice, a movement that is not focused on punishment, but instead on rebuilding relationships, repairing harm to self, others, or the community, and making things as right as possible. For our part, the restorative justice approach is an effort to work with people who are seeking a transformative employment experience as they reenter their community and greater society after incarceration.
And I Know You Too is currently a screen printing company, offering custom-printed apparel and merchandise. Our vision is to open a shop where we can continue to screen print while eventually moving toward expansion into apparel manufacturing. The more types of skills we can do in-house, the more opportunities we can offer. This year, we started manufacturing our own tote bags; a small but essential step in making our vision a reality.
About the Founders
Maryann is the creative force behind the art component of our company, while overseeing the screen printing and tote bag manufacturing operations. It is her passion for artistic expression that guides the vision for And I Know You Too. She is a graduate of New York University with degrees in Photography and Art History. Maryann has worked in the creative field for the past 15 years utilizing fine arts aesthetics as a screen printer, digital marketing designer and developer, photo editor, and freelance photographer.
Anne leads the humanitarian side of And I Know You Too. After ten years working in conflict resolution as a mediator and restorative justice practitioner, she had a vision to pair a commerce business rooted in art with support for system-impacted and formerly-incarcerated individuals, thus partnering with her daughter, Maryann. She believes in creating a work culture that uplifts how we see and treat each other by cultivating authentic, healthy relationships with those seeking a better way to live and work together. Anne has a degree of Master of Art in Leadership Development from Chapman University.
The story behind the name of our company.
The company name, And I Know You Too, started with the acronym “&IKY”, dreamt up and written on a piece of paper in the middle of the night. Since then, we decided to use the name for our company business with “too” added to the end, symbolizing how we all know each other universally and that relationships are circular in nature and not one way. The name has become the cornerstone of the humanitarian side of And I Know You Too, that embraces the idea of connecting through our common humanity and underlining that we need and belong to each other.
